So, you’ve just got engaged and you’re excited to start telling people. Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS! Well, the easiest way to tell people your news, is to post a status update on Facebook, but where is the charm and the excitement in that? After all the effort your partner went into making the proposal special for you, you’re now thinking of just adding a sentence onto Facebook to tell everyone you are tying the knot. Really?!
Why not consider an Engagement Shoot? Not only is it one of the best ways to get to know how a photographer works, if you like them as a person and more about their style, but it is also a great way to tell people about your news, with some special photos that say something about you as a couple. Of course, this shoot could also incorporate some ‘save the date photos’ if you already have your date in the diary! Well, that’s exactly what the lovely Phil & Lisa did.
At the beginning of February 2013, I met with Phil & Lisa to take their photos. We headed to Trent Park, London where they had first met over 13 years ago. It was a cold day, but they brought with them a bundle of energy and enthusiasm. They were the perfect models throughout the process. Before the shoot we had discussed ideas and use of props that were personal to them as a couple. It is always best to ensure the shoot is tailored to you! The whole point is capture something that represents who you are. Whether you want a selection of romantic, formal or fun pictures, you should always discuss the type of photos you are looking for. I am always happy to offer suggestions with a couple once I have gotten to know them a little bit.
As you can tell from some of these pictures though, Phil & Lisa know exactly who they are as a couple and wanted to share their enjoyment of life in these photos. Despite the cold (I think Lisa suffered the most) it was a great afternoon.
Thanks guys…I look forward to the wedding!
